By now, you’re probably either relieved it’s not snowing or waiting for it to not be snowing anymore thanks to a pretty rough winter. However, if you somehow find yourself surrounded by snow once more, here’s something you probably never realized.
In the video above, YouTube user Talas Kul (aka the Crazy Russian Hacker) shows us what happens when you light snow on fire. While one would assume it would drip and melt, it actually does the opposite: it chars!
The science of it? Water molecules are naturally attracted to each other, so rather than separating, they retract back into the snow ball. As it has nowhere else to go, the outer layer turns black. Guess you’ll have to let it melt the old fashioned way.
