A video has surfaced of a seven-year-old girl being taught how to fire an AR-15 assault rifle.
The youngster is seen shooting the assault rifle with the help on her father on a gun range.
It is similar to the rifle, a Sig Sauer MCX, ISIS sympathizer Omar Mateen used to kill 49 people at Pulse night club in Orlando a week ago.
The clip was posted by a father who runs the Facebook page Haus of Guns.
He describes himself as a gun reviewer for the Average Joe.
In a bid to show children can be taught to use weapons in a safe environment, he uploads footage of his daughter using the guns.
While uploaded more than 2 years ago, this video now begins recirculating the internet in response to an article by New York Daily News reporter Gersh Kuntzman.
The journalist described what it was like to fire the powerful firearm which has been one of the focal points of gun debates in the wake of recent mass shootings.
Kuntzman wrote: ‘What is it like to fire an AR-15? It’s horrifying, menacing and very, very loud. It felt to me like a bazooka — and sounded like a cannon…
‘I’ve shot pistols before, but never something like an AR-15. Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).
‘The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don’t know what you’re doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face.
‘The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick.
‘The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.
Meanwhile, the 7 year old girl only said, ‘That was pretty good’ after firing five rounds.
