Losing your phone is the worst. Not only is there the threat of someone finding it and doing bad things with it, but in this day and age, you practically need it to survive. Okay, that last one might be a bit much, but you probably know at least one person whose life would be thrown off the rails if their phone disappeared.
Anyway, if you happen to own an Android phone and you’ve lost it there is a really simple way to find it that many of you may not know about.
First off, there are two things you’ll need for this to work: (1) you have to have your phone connected to a Google account, which most of us do, and (2) your phone has to still be turned on.
Okay, now that you’ve got that covered are you ready for the big reveal? Here goes…
Go to Google.com and type in “Where is my phone.”
Once you’ve done that a map comes up and presto! There’s your phone.
Yes, it’s pretty much that simple.
Now if you think your phone has been stolen and not just lost you’ll want to use Google’s Android Device Manager where you will find options of locking or erasing your phone completely.
You just need to make sure that the Android Device Manager is enabled on your phone first. You can find that in the Google Settings app. That’s where you can enable your device’s ability to both be found as well as erased.
