Terrifying footage of a small girl trying to wake her mom up in the toy aisle of a Family Dollar has reasonably gone viral after the mother overdosed on heroin.
The clip took place in Lawrence, MA and shows a mother convulsing on the floor after collapsing from taking too much heroin while her 2-year-old daughter stands by attempting to bring her back from her episode.
She was given two doses of Narcan, a drug that works to counteract the effects of heroin. After searching her bag, police found straws, baggies, and residue of the drug.
The chief of police for Lawrence, James Fitzpatrick, said, ‘It’s very disturbing to see someone obviously in the matter of addiction where it overtakes someone where they’re not able to take care of their child, leaves their child vulnerable.’
According to a police report, the woman tried to claim that she had just fallen asleep, and was not overdosing at the time of the incident. Her story clearly didn’t stick, as police have now charged the 36-year-old with child endangerment. Her daughter has been taken into custody with the Department of Children and Families.
