WATCH: These Inmates Busted Out of Their Jail Cell, But What They Did Threw Everyone Completely Off Guard

With all the awful that’s gone on this week, who could use a feel good story? Me, that’s for sure.

In Parker County, Texas, a group of inmates shackled and locked in a holding cell realized something was going on with their jailer.

He was fine one minute, then collapsed, and stopped moving. No one else was in the room, so the inmates banded together to save his life. They knocked down their door, and tried to cause enough of a scene to get help to arrive.

Guards did, thinking at first their was a fight, or worse, an escape attempt.

From WFAA:

Parker County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan Speegle says he didn’t know what to expect when he got downstairs.

“He had keys,” Speegle said. “Had a gun. It could have been an extremely bad situation.”

Speegle rushed in first to see inmates in their gray and white stripes and handcuffed and shackled standing over an unresponsive guard.

Sgt. Speegle corralled the inmates, still not completely understanding what was happening, back into the cell. Deputies started CPR and the paramedics arrived and shocked the guard, who regained a pulse. Inmates watched life returning.

Asked why they came to his rescue, one of the inmates said, “He’s a good man.”

That’s good reason enough.

Ironically, the door they busted out of has been reinforced to prevent something like this from happening again.
