A woman has been charged with outraging public decency after photos on social media appeared to show an individual urinating against a war memorial.
The posts started with the hunt for the woman peeing: “UK- Grays, Essex, Police hunt woman seen going to the toilet on war memorial”
Police have confirmed that she has been arrested following the public outcry.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Officers investigating an incident of outraging public decency in Grays have made an arrest.
“A 42-year-old woman from Grays has been arrested this morning on suspicion of outraging public decency and is awaiting questioning in custody.”
The war memorial pays tribute to those who were tragically killed in the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War.
